Have you gotten the latest Kia UVO software update? In 2016, Kia issued updates to their UVO system, offering Kia drivers smarter features than ever before. These updates, which use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to connect drivers to their phones without taking their attention from the road, are free for eligible vehicles.
Is Your Kia Eligible?
If you have the Kia infotainment system on a vehicle that is 2015 or newer, you may be able to get the free UVO software update. Eligible vehicles include the Soul and Soul EV, Optima and Optima Hybrid, as well as the Forte, Sorento, Sportage and Sedona. For the most part, only newer vehicles qualify.
Check the list of vehicles to find out if yours qualifies, or visit your local Kia dealer for assistance.
These new updates are designed to do a better job than ever before at both keeping you connected and minimizing distractions. Check out this list of features the 2016 update offers.
- Apple CarPlay: Do basically everything you would normally do on your phone, except through your UVO system. Make calls, have Siri read text messages to you and respond for you, and play music, all with voice commands that run through your Kia infotainment system.
- Android Auto: Don’t have an iPhone? No problem! The UVO update offers all the same features and connectivity on Android phones.
- Map updates: Your UVO navigation system is better than ever. You can save points of interest (POI) for future mapping, or plan out an entire trip.
Why Update Your UVO
Believe it or not, even with all of these upgrades Kia’s UVO system is still free, with none of the subscription fees other car manufacturers charge. That’s because Kia puts safety first for all drivers and passengers in our vehicles.
Don’t see your vehicle on the list? It might be time for a newer Kia, one that will set you up with the best features available. Come visit us at i25 Kia to take one of our newer vehicles for a spin and see for yourself the difference the new and improved UVO system can make.
